| As many
of you will know through the various grapevines that exist in the
Pagan Community, There is trouble brewing in Manchester.
This is basically because
a few of us have created a moot for a different Forum. This is a
good think in my opinion as it creates diversity and more interest
within the Community as a whole. In future it is expected that the
Spiritkin moot will occur on the first or second Saturdays of each
month. This means that along with the WiccaUK moot and the North
West Pagan moots a monthly pagan social event listing would be as
follows:
1. Spiritkin Moot - Visits
to exhibits, museums, galleries, days out etc
2. NW Pagan Moot - A Discussion Group
3. WiccaUK Moot - A Social Moot
In many pagan's opinions
this means that there will be three, very diverse moots that will
occur on un-conflicting dates. Surely this can only be a good thing?
However due to this Saturday
(28th February) being the last occasion for many of us to attend
an exhibit at the Science and Industry Museum, it was decided that
the first moot would unfortunately occur on the same day as the
WiccaUK one. However we did not expect there to be much of a problem
as many of those attending the Spiritkin moot have never or not
regularly attended the WiccaUK Moot.
It was decided that the
talk at New Aeon would be attended as it is an open talk, organised
by the proprietors of the shop Gary and Monica, separate to the
WiccaUK moot which does not actually start until the arrival at
the pub.
There has also been alot
of contention around a post started by myself titles "Age Restrictions
on Mooters". I started this post entirely because I knew that
a new mooter called "Beautiful Fighter" has tried to ban
underagers. I note hers is the first reply in a similar vein, despite
her being underage herself. I then posted trying to establish that
if we were following licensing laws then “Beautiful Fighter”
should also be banned. I accept that this post was quite angry and
annoyed, I ranted and raved. In my defence I would like to point
out that contrary to comments posted by “Buffster” among
others, I am not Anti-WiccaUK, I am actually quite grateful, and
attribute the start of the Pagan Scene in Manchester to WiccaUK,
without which there was no moots prior to the first one last year.
I have been a member
of WiccaUK under several usernames over several years, pretty much
from when it started, I have never posted such an annoyed post,
and I am severely annoyed that one angry post could create such
responses. And I note that my initial question has STILL not being
answered i.e. "why are the age restrictions not clear across
the board" e.g. underagers are underage be they 17 11 months
or 14 and a landlord is unlikely to approve of 17s in his pub...
Also I would like to
point out that the reason I have not attended a moot since November
is due to the severe amount of backstabbing and bitching that occurs
both within the site and the moot. As a result I made the decision
to no longer attend.
I also note with interest
that several of my suggestions have been taken onboard:
1. Full Members and Online
Members after noticing that for many of us in the North there are
no benefits for being a full member.
2. Not only was my suggestion
for the Samhain Ball taken onboard but I almost single-handedly
organised it: Booked Bar, Food and had imput in several other areas...
I will not be posting
here again, I have proof of all of the above points if any would
like it please email me.
In closing I have posted
this exact same post to the following places due to the tendencies
of this forum to "lose" posts.
* Wicca UK
* Spiritkin
I have also taken a screenshot
to prove that this post existed in case the site does "lose"
posts. It is on my website http://www.riverdragonslair.says.it
Thanks for the good times…
Well, lets just say thanks.
